The Little Girl
She was always there, hiding.
She was denied her very existence.
She was neglected and starving for attention.
Occasions when she was allowed out, her actions were extreme.
Most girls take for granted things she could not have or do.
Never allowed to dress-up or play with other girls.
Feminine behavior of any kind was forbidden.
When she was out she was almost to wild to handle.
She would go over-board with dressing-up but still ashamed of whom she was.
She was very cautious, wanting people to see her but not wanting to be seen.
She wouldn’t know how to act if she was noticed.
What if people got angry with her? Her fragile heart could take the rejection.
No one has ever accepted her before, why would they now?
Years went by and her chances to get out dwindled, even stopping for a period of time.
She came to know some other children; but they never noticed her.
They had never seen her guiding hand throughout their lives
Playing, caring, and loving them just as if she had bore them.
She would give her own life to protect them.
One day they were taken from her,
Her very soul had been ripped from her chest, why would somebody do this?
These were her children even though she didn’t bear them.
This loss made her less timid, she is still afraid of rejection, but people are starting to see her.
Some people accept her, even though she seems a little backwards.
She grew outwardly but inwardly she is still a little girl, just spreading her wings.
O’ you can see it in her face, she is very happy.
She wants all to see her, she loves the attention.
With all the pain she has been through, the joy I am realizing is tremendous.
Finally, after all these years of being ignored, the sad little girl is free.
She twirls in her flowing gown, her tear filled eyes look to heaven.
With all the love she can muster, I thank the Lord for setting me free.
